Southern Smoke Festival is back October 5 at Discovery Green in Houston with food, drinks, and live music -- all for a good cause.
The annual event will feature more than 70 food and beverage professionals from across the country.

Proceeds from the festival benefit Southern Smoke Foundation, which has distributed more than $12.7 million to food and beverage workers nationwide and more than 5,700 no cost counseling sessions.
General admission tickets for this weekend’s festival are still available. Donations can also be made at any time directly to Southern Smoke Foundation.
Can’t make it to the festival? The YETI Culinary Stage cooking demos will be livestreamed on KPRC 2+ starting at 4:30 p.m. The demonstrations will be hosted by chef, YouTube personality, and New York Times bestselling author Brad Leone.

The founding director of Southern Smoke Foundation (SSF) is James Beard award-winning chef Chris Shepherd.
He is also the host of “Eat Like a Local with Chris Shepherd” which airs on KPRC 2 Saturday mornings at 10 a.m. He and his wife Lindsey Brown, who is the executive director for SSF, recently appeared on “Houston Life” to talk about the organization and its positive impact on people in the food and beverage industry.
